Highlights over the years include Measuring Time, a 2017 collaborative project with composer Gregory Biss and eight danceartists from across her career; work with Blaise Ferrandino through a NEA Meet the Composer grant awarded to Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth; breath to bone, a commission from composer Claudia Howard Queen; and festival performances in the USA, Guatemala, Taiwan, Paraguay, Canada, Mexico and France. She enjoys collaborative work with choreographers and dancers, composers, writers, photographers, and designers of film and stage at home in the US and abroad. Honors include Fulbright Specialist Awards in Taiwan and Guatemala as well as awards at TCU for teaching, artistry and community engagement.

Susan is a fan of magical realism, Isabelle de Borchgrave, cobalt blue, Lightfoot & Leon, Remedios Varo, The Seldoms (Chicago), vintage clothing from the 60s and prior, Octavio Paz, baking bread, the Spanish language, Ruth Ozeki’s A Tale for the Time Being, Leticia Tarragó, Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, Elvis Costello, Naomi Shihab Nye, Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout, Carbone 14 Le Dortoir, Acadia National Park, Seamus Heaney, Doug Varone and Dancers, GyroTonic, Nicole Krauss, handcrafted staircases, Mariana Yampolsky . . . and the list goes on.
